02/04/2008: Registration is now open (early registration deadline is February 18).

The 24th European Workshop on Computational Geometry will take place on March 18-20, 2008, at Laboratoire Lorrain de Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications. The welcome reception will be on Monday, March 17, 2008.

The goal of the annual European Workshop on Computational Geometry is to provide a forum for scientists from both academia and industry to meet, present their work, interact, and establish collaborations, in order to promote research in the field of Computational Geometry, within Europe and beyond. The workshop aims at providing an informal atmosphere through which both established and young researchers will have a productive exchange of ideas and collaboration. Topics of interest to this workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and analysis of geometric algorithms and data structures including theoretical issues arising from implementations, geometric optimization, combinatorial geometry, and analysis of geometric configurations.
  • Applications of computational geometry in robotics and virtual worlds, computer graphics, simulation and visualization, image processing, geometric and solid modeling, computer aided geometric design, manufacturing, geographical information systems, and structural molecular biology.

A joint one-day workshop CGAL Innovations and Applications: Robust geometric software for complex shapes will be held on Monday, March 17. This one day event around the Computational Geometry Algorithms Library CGAL will bring together CGAL users from academia and industry, and CGAL developers. The most recent advances in CGAL will be presented, as well as CGAL's cutting-edge use in research and development. In addition, there will be ample opportunity to meet in an informal atmosphere with the CGAL developers. This event is an initiative of the European project Algorithms for Complex Shapes and will be organized by Andreas Fabri (director of GeometryFactory, CGAL day chair), Dan Halperin (Tel Aviv University), Gert Vegter (University of Groningen, ACS coordinator).

Submissions

  • Submissions consist of a brief abstract (up to 4 pages) to be received by January 7, 2008; the abstracts will be collected and distributed among the participants at the workshop. There will be no other proceedings, so the presented work may later appear in a more complete form at another conference.
  • Final accepted versions should use the provided latex style file and we encourage submissions in the same format. See the submissions guidelines for details.
  • Submit your file electronically "http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=EuroCG08"
  • Contributed talks shall be 15-20 minutes long.
  • Keeping with the Workshop's tradition, selected papers will be invited to a special issue of Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications.
