Second Call for Papers EuroCG'08 24th European Workshop on Computational Geometry March 18 - 20, 2008, Nancy, France http://eurocg08.loria.fr/ The annual European Workshop on Computational Geometry is an important scientific event which provides a forum for established researchers from academia, as well as R&D people from industry and research students to present their current work. The goal is to bring together researchers from Computational Geometry and related areas in an informal atmosphere, in order to establish scientific interaction and to foster international collaboration. The 24th European Workshop on Computational Geometry will take place on March 18 - 20, 2008, at the Laboratoire Lorrain de Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications (LORIA), Nancy, France. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * discrete and combinatorial geometry and topology * design and analysis of geometric algorithms and data structures * implementation and experimental evaluation of geometric algorithms * numerical and algebraic issues arising from implementations * analysis of geometric configurations * geometric modelling, visualization and simulation * combinatorial optimization * computer-aided design and manufacturing * structural molecular biology * geographic information systems * robotics and virtual worlds Invited Speakers: Pierre Alliez (INRIA Sophia-Antipolis) Jean Ponce (ENS Paris) Fabrice Rouillier (INRIA Paris-Rocquencourt) Satelite event: CGAL Innovations and Applications http://www.cgal.org/UserWorkshop/index.html A joint one-day workshop CGAL Innovations and Applications: Robust geometric software for complex shapes will be held on Monday, March 17th. This one day event around the Computational Geometry Algorithms Library CGAL will bring together CGAL users from academia and industry, and CGAL developers. The most recent advances in CGAL will be presented, as well as CGAL's cutting-edge use in research and development. In addition, there will be ample opportunity to meet in an informal atmosphere with the CGAL developers. This event is an initiative of the European project Algorithms for Complex Shapes and will be organized by Andreas Fabri (chair, director of Geometry Factory), Dan Halperin (Tel Aviv University) and Gert Vegter (University of Groningen, ACS coordinator). Submissions: We invite submissions of extended abstracts of original research. The submission and final accepted version should be of at most 4 pages and submitted through EasyChair at "http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=EuroCG08" by Monday, January 14, 2008 (midnight GMT). Detailed guidelines for the submission can be found at "http://eurocg08.loria.fr/submission.php". Acceptance notification will be on Monday, January 28 and final version will be due by Monday, February 11, 2008. Accepted extended abstracts will be collected in a booklet which will be distributed among the workshop participants. There will be no other proceedings, so that preliminary work may later be presented in a more complete form at another conference. There will be a 15-20 minutes presentation of each accepted extended abstract during the Workshop. A selection of accepted papers will be invited to special issues of Computational Geometry, Theory and Applications. Important Dates: Submission deadline: Monday, January 14, 2008 Acceptance notification: Monday, January 28, 2008 Final version due: Monday, February 11, 2008 Early Registration: Monday, February 18, 2008 Welcome Reception: Monday, March 17, 2008 Program Committee: Sylvain Lazard (chair) Laurent Dupont Hazel Everett Xavier Goaoc Sylvain Petitjean Marc Pouget Contact and Further Information: See the workshop webpage "http://eurocg08.loria.fr/" for further information, submission and registration details, or contact us via eurocg08@loria.fr
